“Mr. Ernest Thesiger, who at 74 is playing the part of a 75-year-old Viscount in the film of Chesterton’s ‘Father Brown,’ was resting on the set at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, while the camera was being moved to a new position. ‘Don’t you get bored hanging around like this?’ a visitor asked him. ‘My dear sir,’ replied Mr. Thesiger, ‘nowadays actors are paid for patience, not talent.’”
